Chelsea can certainly not be accused of resting on their laurels after winning the Champions League with Newcastle winger Hatem Ben Arfa the latest player to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have already completed deals for Marko Marin and Eden Hazard but it seems as though they are not happy with their options in midfield and are now looking at Ben Arfa.
Chelsea have lost Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou after their contracts ended and it seems as though new boss Roberto di Matteo will continue to strengthen the squad now he has been handed a two-year deal.
The Daily Mail has reported how Chelsea believe they can land the midfielder for £18million, while they believe that Newcastle will look to land around £26m should they decide to sell.
Ben Arfa is just one of the success stories at Newcastle who enjoyed a superb season that saw them finish above Chelsea in the Premier League table and gain Europa League football.
However, despite Chelsea finishing in sixth place, they have qualified for the Champions League next season which certainly hands them the advantage when looking to attract players.
Newcastle would certainly not want to lose the French midfielder who arrived for just £5million from Marseille and quickly established himself as a fan favourite with some superb performances and stunning goals.
