MANCHESTER CITY SPLASH CASH FOR SILVER SCREEN

MANCHESTER CITY SPLASH CASH FOR SILVER SCREEN

Not content with a squad of players worth over three hundred million pounds, Manchester City seem intent on branching out towards world domination. The next step at Eastlands is the recent production of Blue Moon Rising, a behind-the-scenes documentary detailing their first season under the ownership of Sheikh Mansour.

As well as being granted sufficient funds to acquire Mario Balotelli and James Milner, among others, in a summer transfer spree worth over one hundred million pounds, the club have pulled out the big guns off the pitch.

Released in selected cinemas on September 17th, the film has been directed by Bafta-winner Stewart Sugg and produced by the experienced company Endemol, responsible for Big Brother. In keeping with the decadent atmosphere that Mansour has encouraged, Buena Vista International have also got on board to promote what will now be distributed as a full-on movie, rather than the documentary that was first envisaged.

From the high-profile signings of Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor to the acrimonious exit of Mark Hughes in favour of the more glamorous Roberto Mancini, the 2009/10 season certainly contained enough drama to fuel any spectacle and City's marketing manager David Pullan was keen to spread the Eastlands gospel.

"Blue Moon Rising reinforces Manchester City's standing as the most fascinating story in the world of football. We wanted to give football fans all around the world a unique insight into the club and its future by getting them closer to the action in this unique year."

Blue Moon Rising premieres at The Printworks in Manchester in September 9th.
