Blackburn in Talks with Young Boys Defender

Blackburn are hoping to sign Young Boys defender Scott Sutter after the Swiss club gave them permission to speak to the player who was born and raised in Hertfordshire.

Sutter has been granted permission to go and speak with Blackburn Rovers and is hoping that he will be able to clinch a deal that would see him return to his homeland.

"If I have no future with Young Boys, I want to go back to my homeland. I've been in the Super League nine-and-a-half years," Sutter told Blick.ch.

The 23-year-old first hit the headlines when he played against Tottenham, the club he supported as a boy, in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League last season.

In recent months he has fallen down the pecking order at the Swiss club and it seems the club are happy to let him leave as they have granted permission to the Premier League side to discuss a possible move.

Sutter has won two caps for Switzerland after deciding to represent them rather than hold out for an England call-up and in recent seasons has been a regular starter for Young Boys.

Blackburn have had a mini revival in recent weeks as manager Steve Kean attempts to keep the club in the Premeir League. They currently lie third bottom but are just a point behind Bolton in 17th and will be hoping to drag QPR back into the relegation battle.
