Chelsea are rumoured to be preparing to test Arsenal’s resolve, by making a move for winger Theo Walcott.
According to reports in the Mirror, the blues will throw their hat into the ring, as Walcott enters the final year on his current deal at the Emirates.
The England international is yet to agree a new deal with the club, amid reports that he is demanding wages which will bring him in line with Arsenal’s top earners.
The Mirror claim that any offer would be considered by Arsenal chiefs, who may look to cash in on the 23 year-old, rather than lose him on a free transfer next summer.
Should Chelsea make a concerted effort to get Walcott, they may face competition from mega-rich French side Paris Saint-Germain, who are also believed to be keen on the winger.
Walcott was one of England’s best performers at the European Championships, with his finest moment of the tournament coming in England’s 3-2 win over Sweden, in which he turned the game on it’s head as England trailed.
