Arsenal are reportedly preparing to smash their wage structure by offering Robin van Persie a club record contract.
According to reports in the Daily Mail, Gunners chiefs are putting together a package which will see the Dutchman earn around £7 million-per-season.
With Van Persie and his representatives due to meet with the Arsenal hierarchy on Wednesday, the club are hoping that their bumper deal will be a signal of intent to the striker, who is entering the final year on his current deal.
As continued in the report, the proposed deal will see the striker earn in the region of £130,000-a-week, and will include a £5 million 'golden handshake' if he puts pen to paper.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has started the transfer window in earnest, signing FC Koln striker Lukas Podolski, with rumours that a handful of other stars including Yann M'Vila could be winging their way to the Emirates.
While Van Persie has indicated he will not sign anything until after the European Championships, Arsenal bosses will be hoping new faces will show him their level of ambition.
