Real Betis manager Pepe Mel has signalled his intent to try and sign Arsenal striker Carlos Vela who has impressed in Spain on a season-long loan with Real Sociedad.
The Mexican forward has struggled to convince Arsene Wenger that he is worthy of a place in the Arsenal squad and he has seemingly taken to life in Spain where he has now scored 11 league goals.
Vela initially struggled to life in La Liga but has impressed in recent months and it seems that Betis would like to try and steal him from under the noses of rivals Sociedad.
Despite declaring their interest in signing the 23-year-old, Mel has indicated that it could be a difficult deal to conclude because of the financial struggles at the club.
"He's already knows that there is interest from us from last season but it's complicated," Mel told goal.com.
"We have been informed that Arsenal want cash, they want to sell, but that makes it difficult for a club with the finances of Betis."
Vela is the top scorer at Real Sociedad this season who are currently in 13th place, level on points with Real Betis.
