Arsenal Star Set To Leave

Arsenal defender Gael Clichy looks to be on his way out of the Emirates this summer in a move that will take him to Germany.

The Frenchman, who recently spoke of his desire to leave north London, after six trophyless seasons at the club, appears to be heading to Bayern Munich after turning down a new contract with the Gunners.

According to reports on Goal.com, the last remaining member of Arsenal's 'Invincibles' squad could head to Bayern for as little as £5.5 million.

Clichy has been the subject of increasing speculation, after being linked with moves to Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

However, it looks as though Bayern have set their immediate sights on the left back, after losing out on Benfica's £25 million-rated Fabio Coentrao.

Bayern were reluctant to meet the Portugese club's valuation of the defender, and according to reports in the Portugese media, the 25-year-old has sealed a deal with Liverpool.

Clichy is entering the final year of his contract at the Emirates and Arsene Wenger is keen to offload him to fund further ventures in the market, rather than lose him on a free transfer in 12 months' time.

It is believed that Inter have held informal talks with the player's agent, but a move to Germany could suit the him, with Bayern looking towards a summer of rebuilding.
