Arsenal Set Sights on £26.4m Fabregas Replacement

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to step up his pursuit in search of a replacement for current skipper Cesc Fabregas.

According to reports on Goal.com, Wenger is keeping tabs on the availability of Villarreal midfielder Santi Cazorla.

It is believed any move the north London outfit make for Cazorla depends on Juventus' move for Giuseppe Rossi from the La Liga side.

The Gunners boss has come to terms he is going to lose his captain Fabregas to Barcelona this summer and is on the look out for replacements.

Wenger has been linked with a move for Valencia's Juan Mata but it now believed the Arsenal manager has turned his attentions to Cazorla.

Big spenders Malaga have also shown an interest in trying to acquire the signature of the Spanish international and have reportedly had a bid of £17.6million rejected by Villarreal.

However it is believed the Premier League side are in pole position to acquire Cazorla's signature.

Arsenal will need to meet the 26-year-olds £26.4m release clause if they are to gain the services of the Spanish star.

Last season Cazorla made 37 appearances for the La Liga outfit and managed to score five goals.
