Arsenal Linked With Move For 'Korean Gerrard'

Arsenal are being linked with a surprise move for Celtic midfielder Ki Sung-yeung, dubbed the 'Korean Gerrard', as they look to continue to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.

Having unveiled latest signing Santi Cazorla earlier this week, the Daily Mail claim that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been monitoring the performances of the South Korean, who was on international duty with the Olympic squad.

The 23 year-old has impressed for the South Koreans during the games, but missed out on a place in the final, after his side lost 3-0 to Brazil in yesterday's semis.

Ki is rated at around £9 million, a fee Arsenal will no doubt try and negotiate, should they make an official approach.

The Mail continue by saying that Ki's energetic style has won over Arsenal's chief scout Steve Rowley, who is a highly influential presence at the Emirates.

Should Arsenal move for the player, it will be their fourth major signing this summer, following the arrivals of Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla.
