Arsenal are the latest club to be linked with Valencia defender Adil Rami who has also been attracting interest from Italian giants AC Milan.
According to Italian website tuttomercatoweb.com, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is hoping to land the centre-back in order to be able to pair him with Thomas Vermaelen.
Wenger signed German international Per Mertesacker last summer to try and help solve his defensive worries but the former Werder Bremen defender has struggled to settle in the Premier League.
While Arsenal may see Rami as a potential partner for Vermaelen, AC Milan would like the 25-year-old to act as a replacement for veteran Italian defender Alessandro Nesta.
The France international only moved to Valencia last summer after playing an integral part in helping Lille win Ligue 1 in 2011.
Rami has already played 40 games for Valencia and has been a regular both in the league and in European competition where the club have progressed to the semi-finals of the Europa League.
