Dernbach Suffers Injury Set Back

Jade Dernbach has been ruled out of the remaining three one-day international against Australia after the England management team revealed that he was suffering from a side strain.

The Surrey bowler was brought into the side for the second match at The Oval and returned figures of 0-59 as England claimed a six-wicket win to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Fellow seamer James Anderson had also picked up an injury but is due to return for the third ODI, while Dernbach will play no further part in the series as England look to secure a 5-0 whitewash and overtake Australia at the top of the one-day rankings.

"A rehabilitation and recovery programme will be established alongside Surrey CCC in the coming days following further medical assessment," read a statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board.

England have already called up Warwickshire fast bowler Chris Woakes as cover for Dernbach and Stuart Meaker who were both due to miss the third game to attend the funeral Tom Maynard.

An announcement on who will replace Dernbach is expected to be named in on Wednesday.
