Broad Injury Scare for England

Stuart Broad hobbled out of a net session on Sunday after being hit on the left foot by a ball from James Anderson and suffering “heavy bruising.”

The 25 year-old all-rounder, who is even more crucial to England’s tour in light of Tim Bresnan’s recent injury, did not bowl after receiving treatment but adamant that he would be able to take a full part in today’s practice.

“Afternoon with my foot up being iced,” Broad posted on his Twitter page. “Jimmy [Anderon] got me with an in-swinging yorker. Bowling tomorrow so no worries.”

Having been rested for England’s final warm-up fixture before Tuesday’s first Test against Pakistan, Broad’s inability to bowl on Sunday would have been quite worrying for Andy Flower and the tourists.

However, Anderson backed his teammate to come through the ordeal.

"It's just part and parcel of cricket. You do get the odd knock from time to time," he said.

"Unfortunately, the ball is quite hard – and it was a bad shot – but I think he's fine.

"It's not ideal preparation for him not bowling today but we've done plenty of bowling over the last couple of weeks.

"So we're in good condition as a bowling unit, and I don't think Stuart will be too worried."
