Roach - Pacquiao Could Fight Senchenko in Ukraine For "A Lot of Money"

Five-time ‘Trainer of the Year’ Freddie Roach has said his number one fighter Manny Pacquiao could travel to the Ukraine to meet WBA champion Vyacheslav Senchenko in a welterweight unification bout next year.

The 51 year-old coaches both fighters and also stated that if a bout was agreed, he would corner for WBO champion Pacquiao and Senchenko would have to look elsewhere for the build-up.

“The Ukraine people haven’t seen Manny and Senchenko’s promoters are very wealthy,” Roach said.  “His promoters control the coal and metal mines in the country. Manny could fight Senchenko in Ukraine for a lot of money.

“In the event they meet, Manny will win easy. I remember legends like Sugar Ray Robinson when in the course of winding up their careers, they would go to fight in different countries and earn big purses. If Manny wants to do that, Ukraine would be a good destination.”

Pacquiao’s next fight is a third encounter with Juan Manuel Marquez next month and the Filipino has just four more fights in his future plans before his planned retirement in 2013.

The fight everyone is calling for would be against long-time rival Floyd Mayweather Jr but beyond that, there aren’t many bouts which would be considered high enough profile to fill the 32-year-old's schedule.

Stable-mate Amir Khan could be considered, although the Bolton fighter recently declared that the bout would never happen.
