Manny Pacquiao has told his promoter Bob Arum that he wants to finally secure a bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The Filipino fighter has long been linked with a fight against the undefeated American, but the politics of boxing have always got in the way and fans have been forced to argue who is the better boxer.
Pacquiao lost a controversial decision to Tim Bradley in his last outing and is now likely to face either the American in a rematch or Juan Manuel Marquez in November.
Mayweather produced another scintillating performance to beat Miguel Cotto in his last fight, but is currently out of action as he is serving a 87-day ail term which began earlier this month.
However, it seems Pacquiao is now hoping that the disputes can finally be settled and that he can prove that he is better than Mayweather.
"Obviously, the one fight that [Pacquiao] wants is [Floyd] Mayweather. That's the guy he wants to fight," Arum told the Manila Standard.
The duo are considered the two best pound-for-pound fighters in the world and it would be a contest that would certainly draw massive viewing figures and huge amounts of money.
