Amir Khan appears to have received his wish for another bout with Lamont Peterson after the WBA revealed that they have ordered an "immediate rematch" after the controversial December bout.
The Bolton fighter lost a split decision to Peterson in his home town of Washington after being deducted two points by referee Joe Cooper, which cost Khan his title belts.
As well as the point deductions there has been further controversy with Khan pointing the finger at a "mystery man" - now identified as Mustafa Ameen - who was seen handling the scorecards.
Khan also claimed that he had been told that he had won the fight, only for the decision to go to Peterson when the scorecards where announced.
The WBA have now agreed to order a rematch but Khan is still waiting to hear from the IBF, who Ameen has an affiliation with, who have agreed to announce their decision next week.
Khan's camp are also hopeful that the original decision against Peterson will be changed to a no-contest.
"The WBA ordered an immediate rematch. I'm thrilled that he's getting one and hope we can start the negotiations and get the fight done," Golden Boy Promotions' Richard Schafer told ESPN.com.
"Amir and Lamont are both terrific young men and athletes who fought their hearts out in Washington in December and I'm sure this decision will get applause by fight fans around the world.
"The rematch will be one of the most anticipate fights of 2012 because both guys are exciting, young and I think it's exactly the kind of fight people want to see."
