Brook Promises Fireworks Against Jones

Brook Promises Fireworks Against Jones

Kell Brook has promised that he will meet Carson Jones head-on when the pair meet at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield on July 7.

Jones has won his last eight fights by stoppages and appeared to get under the skin of Brook who is looking to improve upon his 27-0 record and secure a future world title bout.

The pair have had some bitter words in the press conferences leading up to the fight and Brook has promised that he will be looking to secure a stoppage when they meet next month.

"He's had some good knockouts lately," said Brook. "He's been over to people's back yards before and knocked them out. He's very confident, I can tell that, and the fans are in for a real treat because I'm going to meet him head-on."

"There was a bit of needle (at the press conference)," he told Sky Sports. "Those Americans can get under your skin. He was giving it all the talk about knocking me out in my hometown, about what he's going to do to me. It riled me up a bit.

"With the (Matthew) Hatton fight, we both had a lot of respect for each other. I wasn't spiteful or nasty enough in the ring. But this kid, Carson Jones, I don't know him but I don't like the kid because he came over and didn't show any respect.

"He's going to pay for it. I'll be vicious and nasty, wanting to end the fight."

Jones certainly has the experience edge over Brook with 44 fights to his name, but with eight losses on his record, there should certainly be no fear for the fighter from Sheffied..

The American is hoping that the pressure of Brook fighting in front of a home crowd will work to his advantage so that he can achieve his dream of fighting for a world tile.

"There's more risk for him than there is for me, simply because this is his home town, in front of his home fans," he explained. "It's the last step for him, or for me, towards a world title shot. He's the only man in front of my dream and I'm not going to take no for an answer."
