Billy Joe Saunders Retains his Commonwealth Title with Points Win

Billy Joe Saunders was rarely troubled as he eased to a one-sided points win over Bradley Pryce to retain his Commonwealth middleweight title on Friday night at York Hall in Bethnal Green.

The 2008 Olympian was defending the title he won back in April when he stopped Tony Hill in the first round but there was no early knockout against the determined Pryce.

Pryce is a former Commonwealth champion at light-middleweight but he was completely outclassed over the 12 rounds, with one judge handing Saunders every single round on his scorecard.

The Hatfield fighter boxed beautifully throughout the contest and it when the scorecards of 120-109 (twice) and 120-108 it was no surprise to hear that it was Saunders holding onto his title.

There was also another victory for exciting young prospect Frank Buglioni who was also coming off the back of an impressive first round stoppage.

The Enfield fighter was taking on Jody Meikle and once again it was another one-sided contest with Buglioni winning al six rounds as he eased to his fifth win as a professional.
