North Face has launched a new jacket designed specifically for eco-minded endurance athletes, the new Men's Swift Hybrid is a hybrid of windproof body fabric, and stretch breathable back and underarm panels woven from over 60% recycled polyester, plus bamboo carbon fibre.
A highly renewable resource, bamboo plants are dried, carbonized in a high-temperature kiln, and then ground into a fine powder. This powder is blended with a polymer to form fibres that are woven or knit into fabrics, like those that comprise the stretch panels of the new Swift Hybrid Jacket. The highly porous nature of bamboo carbon wicks moisture away from the skin, while trapping odour-causing molecules. The result is a jacket offering superior temperature regulation and airflow, while still protecting the core from biting winds.
For those days when the weather is fickle, the Swift Hybrid is both UV-blocking and DWR-coated for water-resistance. The Swift Hybrid is available in Black, Denim Blue/Black and Cardinal Red/Asphalt Grey.
