The worlds of technology and sport collide as Philips and O'Neill have collaborated to create a range of 'tough' headphones. Designed to withstand all sorts of conditions and styled for the extreme sportsperson, they are durable, reliable and most of all comfortable.
'The Stretch', as they are known, are the toughest of the lot, made with a material called TR 55LX, which just sounds hard. This material boasts a strength six-times greater than that of conventional headphones, so you're going to have to try your best to break these.
The material is ultra durable and temperature-resistant, which is ideal for skiing and snowboarding. According to Philips, they can withstand temperatures of -25c, which is very impressive for a pair of headphones.
'The Stretch' are very comfortable, fitting even the largest of heads with ease. They sit on the ear nicely, and completely drown out all surrounding noise, ideal if you're going about town or on the slopes.
They are brilliantly styled, with a smart looking band across the top and a cable which Philips say cannot tangle. This is ideal because we're forever getting caught up in a tangled cable which ends up breaking.
It seems a good collaboration between Philips and O'Neill. Philips bring their sound engineering expertise, with a quality which is surprisingly good considering the price, and O'Neill bring their styling, with a wetsuit material headband and distinct O'Neill look.
The result is a set of headphones which are as close to indestructible as you will get, and will look just as good around town as they would on the slopes.
