PUMA Updates a Classic

PUMA Updates a Classic

When Sportsvibe thinks back to its glory days as a defensive lynchpin, we can't help but remember pulling on our first pair of Puma Kings. The classic black boot championed by legendary Argentina forward Diego Maradona was the boot of choice for an entire generation.

Now PUMA have announced that they are updating their classic 1986 Mexico Finale boot and Sportsvibe are pretty sure that we will be investing in a pair and seeing if we still have the same silky skills (which is very doubtful).

The new boot features ultra-soft-leather which makes the boot more flexible than its predecessor the King XL, and the toe box is rounder. It has a traditional foldover tongue that is kept down by a hook-and-loop fastener which provides a cleaner kicking area and improves pressure distribution upon ball impact.

In other words we should be able to spray passes like Xabi Alonso and have the control of Lionel Messi. At least we hope the boot will make us that good. Now for some more of the clever, techincal lingo.

The premium k-leather further enhances comfort and performance and the outsole is made from a lightweight high-performance thermoplastic elastomeric material which helps to keep the weight of the boot down.

The PUMA King Finale combines the traditional features of a foldover tongue and central lacing, with innovative and modern technologies such as anatomically shaped Aptolast.

The PUMA Aptolast closely follows the foot's natural shape and provides a glove like fit that allows the upper to mould perfectly to the player's foot. The boot also has an anatomically shaped sockliner with a memory foam insert.

This updated classic will be worn by Wolves striker Kevin Doyle, Manchester City left-back Wayne Bridge and Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta.
