'Get In The Hole' Becomes A Mouthful For American Fans At The Ryder Cup

Loud American golf fans who give Team Europe a mouthful at the Ryder Cup can expect the same in return as giant gobstoppers designed to silence the home crowd will be handed out at the Medinah Country Club.

US Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III has warned Team Europe that the home crowd's roars will become the team's "13th man". To level the odds, British betting exchange Betfair is flying out more than a thousand over-sized gobstoppers which will last at least 250 minutes - far longer than the average round of golf at the course - in a bid to silence the fiery reception and hostile crowd in Chicago.

After years of unsporting behaviour on the fairways, where the widely-hated phrase 'Get In The Hole' was first coined, the sweets will be handed out in a bid to quieten the crowd right up until the very last putt to ensure Team Europe retain the trophy.

Brits who intend to stay up and watch the action can win a Get In The Hole gobstopper by following @BetfairSports on Twitter.  Fans can show their support by using the hashtag #GetInTheHole.

To win the Ryder Cup Betfair bet: 4-5 USA, 7-4 Europe, 11-1 the draw.
