DVD Gift Guide

It's Christmas time, so that can mean one of three things:

1. You're planning to drink too much and make a prize fool of yourself
at the work Christmas party.
2. The Jamaican steel drum players are playing festive songs on
London's Oxford Street.
3. There are a whole host of sporting DVDs on sale, all ranging from gaffes to glory, with the odd documentary thrown in there for good measure.

So we have decided to bring to you four of the best sporting DVDs on the market this festive season.

Matt Dawson’s Rip Roaring Rugby

Rugby World Cup winner, Masterchef champion and now DVD presenter. It looks like there is nothing Matt Dawson can’t do.

In Rip Roaring Rugby, Matt brings you some of the memorable moments in rugby history. Filmed at Twickenham, the home of rugby, you are treated to an hour of the game’s tastiest tries, toughest tackles and greatest games.

Some of Sportsvibe’s favourite highlights include Chris Ashton’s incredible try against Australia, the classy Carlos Spencer against England and AJ Venter knocking Jason Robinson into a different time zone.

You can’t go wrong with this DVD.

Robbie Savage: Football Howlers

From one ex-sportsman turned TV star to another. What Christmas wouldn’t be complete without Robbie Savage getting in on the act.

The flaxon-haired footballer’s festive offering is a classic howlers DVD, documenting a whole host of own-goals, cock-ups and misses which will have Ronny Rosenthal waking up in a cold sweat.

This isn’t your standard clanger DVD though. Never short of an opinion, Savage adds to the laughs as he comments and criticises the offenders in his own unique way.

Quickly establishing himself as a voice for the fans, you do not want to miss Robbie Savage: Football Howlers. It just wouldn’t be Christmas without it.

Olly Murs: Seven Deadly Sins of Football

Challenging Robbie Savage at the top of the football DVD table is cheeky chappy Olly Murs.

His seasonal effort, Olly Murs: Seven Deadly Sins of Football is laced with the easygoing banter which won him a place in the nation’s hearts.

In his own qwirky twist on the beautiful game, Olly shows the anger, the greed and the lust from some of the games biggest names.

Make sure your stocking is lined with this treat of a gift.

TT3D: Closer to the Edge

This is a film which Sportsvibe reviewed earlier in the year and we love it so much that we’ve decided to include it in our 2011 gift guide.

Get closer than you could ever imagine to the thrills and spills of the Isle of Man TT, one of the quickest and dangerous races in the world.

Following the anti-hero Guy Martin, you are taken on a rollercoaster of a ride as you get down to the nitty-gritty aspects of pure racing.
