What's Occuring with Tidy Davies

David Davies may be the current Olympic 10K silver medallist, after his fine open water swim in Beijing last summer, and he may well be aiming for gold in Rome at the world championships in August, but what he really dreams of is having a small cameo role in BBC TV's hit comedy, Gavin and Stacey. Welshman Davies comes from the same neck of the woods as Stacey, Nessa, Uncle Bryn and all and swears they they really do talk like that in Barry. "We definitely ask "what's occuring," said Davies, at the announcement of the 15 million partnership between British swimming and British Gas yesterday at an east London swimming pool. "We also say "lush" and I'm always being caught using the phrase "tidy." Winning gold in either the 1500 metres or the 10K at the worlds this summer would be very special for Davies, but then again, so would an appearance on the show. "Bryn could be at the local pool and bump into me," he adds. "I've worked it all out. I've just got to hope the writers think of me one day." Tidy!
