Invers on Xmas Card Duty First, BBC Sports Awards Second.

Got chatting to the admirable John Inverdale today at the impressive Sports Journalists Association annual end of year sports awards in the City of London. Invers was there in his roving role with a microphone talking to some of the stars present for the lunch but he, like the rest of us, is fretting over Christmas and the fact, once again, that he has done nothing so far at all when it comes to the festive holiday. Still, at least he has it all planned. He has 100 Xmas cards to write and his intention is to get them all done on the two hour-plus train journey from London to Sheffield on Sunday en route to co-presenting the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards. "I'll start as soon as I sit down and aim to finish as we're pulling in to Sheffield," he told me."That's my only slot to get it all done." So, if you see a relaxed looking Invers on TV on Sunday night, you'll know it was a case of job done on the train coming up. If not, then he will no doubt have fallen ten or cards short!
