Ask Mo Farah about winning the 10K/5K double at the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona and the Somalian-born British long-distance star is understandably excited. Ask "Fly Mo" about his recent contact with Arsenal Football Club and the man who hopes to repeat his Catalan feats at London 2012 can barely contain himself.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger once again showed what a class act he is by sending Gunners-mad Farah a congratulatory note after Farah won the 10,000 metres inside the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, adding a good luck message for the forthcoming 5,000 metres.
It was as much a deal to Farah as winning those golds, arguably even bigger. Now Mo tells Sportsvibe that he hopes to be making a half-time appearance at the Emirates Stadium complete with his gold medals. "Now that would be just awesome," he says.
Let's hope it happens, and let's hope the Arsenal fans show their appreciation for a fellow supporter who has just become a guest at the top table of British sport.
Mo Farah was speaking at the launch of UKA's IAAA (I AM AN ATHLETE) campaign at London's King's Cross Station to show athletics as a basis for daily activity. For more information, please visit www.uka.org.uk.
