Can Europe regain the Ryder Cup?

The selection speculation is over, the Twitter and Facebook bans have been imposed and Tiger Wood's (lack of) WAG has been embarrassingly unveiled. Now it's time for the golf.

The Americans arrived in Wales yesterday for the biennial fixture which will tee off on Friday morning at the Celtic Manor Resort with the Foursomes. There may still be some off-course controversy, as we await the respective pairings to be picked by Colin Montgomerie and Corey Pavin, but the focus is now wholeheartedly on the golf.

Even with six debutants in their ranks, Europe's young tyros are the bookies' favourites to avenge the defeat two years ago at Valhalla, a fact that Ian Poulter was quick to reiterate this week. However, the USA await the return to form of Woods, who was named as the "greatest player of all time" by Montgomerie at yesterday's press conference.

It promises to be an enthralling tussle over four days, with an expected 45,00 spectators each day set to produce an electric atmosphere. Will Europe be able to ride on this home support and wrestle the trophy back from Pavin's men? Or will Woods, Mickleson and Furyk inspire their countrymen to a comfortable retention? Let us know your thoughts.
